Impact

In order to enable informed discussions on China’s vaccine outreach, this tracker collects data and information regarding the deliveries, pledges, and donations of Chinese-made COVID-19 vaccines to other countries and organizations such as COVAX. It also covers the joint production of Chinese-made vaccines that are being produced in other countries. Findings from our tracker have been cited by international media outlets, think tanks and used in various research documents such as dissertations or reports.

Our follow-up project – China’s Emerging Global Vaccine Footprint – looks at how China and other countries are supporting local vaccine manufacturing in the post-COVID era.

In June 2020, we launched a Pandemic Philanthropy report, which was the world’s first English-language analysis of the effect of COVID-19 on Chinese philanthropy and focuses on private sector support for vaccine R&D. Our team also co-hosted a webinar with Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN) to disseminate our findings. We reached 150 NGO and corporate leaders from 17 countries including UNHCR, FHI 360, Fullerton Health Foundation, and the Tanoto Foundation. Members of our team also moderated a panel discussion with representatives from Gates Foundation, GHDDI, and Baidu Research USA, and secured coverage on Devex, the leading international development site.
